A Tale of Two Piccies

14 Feb 2011

Photographs that link the past and the present are the subject of a family history competition being organised by Shepway District Council to coincide with the 2011 census.

The council are asking Shepway residents to send us two photographs, separated by a minimum of 50 years, and to write about what links the two (maximum 150 words).

This is not a photographic competition; they're not looking for brilliant photos but the stories behind the photos - poignant, happy or quirky stories that link them.

There will be 10 winners! First prize, kindly donated by Kent Adult Education, will be a voucher for a 10-week course of the winner's choosing at The Cube, in Folkestone. The 9 runners-up will each receive a voucher for a one-day Saturday course at the Cube (courtesy of the council).

The deadline for entries is Monday 14 March.

This is an on-line competition only. For full details on how to submit, where to get free help with scanning and emailing for those who don't have this facility, please download the application form at: www.shepway.gov.uk/censuscompetition.
