A Winner for Harbour: Emily says "Thank You!"

Emily Sanger has thanked Harbour residents for their support in the Harbour ward by-election. Emily was elected as the new Town Councillor for Harbour with 54% of the vote. The by-election was called following the resignation of the sitting Folkestone Town Councillor.

The result in full was:

Liberal Democrat Emily Sanger 478 (54%)

Conservative 250 (28%)

Go Folkestone 156 (18%)

LIB DEM GAIN FROM CONSERVATIVE with 16.5% swing. Turnout was 27.4%.

The result in 2004 was:

Conservative 508 (36%)

Go Folkestone 513 (36%)

Lib Dem 407 (29%)

Emily said:

"I'd like to thank all the residents of Harbour for putting up with a by-election so soon after the General Election! I'd also like to thank them so much for their fantastic support, and the welcome they have given me, and the Liberal Democrat team, on the doorstep.

"I look forward to continuing to work and campaign for Harbour with Tessa Caruana over the coming months and years. We will do our best to be a strong voice for local residents."
