As reported in the Folkestone Herald, plans to build 41 new homes at the former Shepway Resource Centre on Military Road, Sandgate go to Shepway Development Control next week.

Of the 41 homes, 6 houses will be built for sale at market values, and the remaining 35 flats and houses offered by Shepway District Council at affordable rents or shared ownership. Shepway Resource Centre was closed by Kent County Council some years ago, and the site has remained unused since.

There was no objection from Sandgate Parish Council to the proposal.

Sandgate Parish Councillor Gary Fuller says:

"It's good to see affordable housing being built locally, and also refreshing to see a development with what seems to be sufficient parking!

"Sandgate Councillors did recommend maximising the tree screening along the road to both further enhance the escarpment at the top of Military Road and to help screen the Ross Way depot from the new properties."
