Airbrushed from History...

Folkestone and Hythe Express front page 6/10/2021

Article on the front page of today's Folkestone and Hythe Express on bin collections being discussed at last week's Folkestone & Hythe District Full Council Meeting. It quotes Cabinet Member for Waste Stuart Peall responding to a question from Councillor Jackie Meade on bin collection problems saying:

"I have to say that I haven't received and emails or complaints from Councillors for the last few weeks about collections."

Now, I don't want to be overly protective here, but that's not quite true. It's also not Stuart Peall's fault, as that is not what he said.

Happily there is video of all Full Council meetings. The link to his response to this question is at:

https://folkestone-hythe.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/587690/start_time/1372000?force_language_code=en_GB

...and it shows Councillor Peall saying:

"I have to say that apart from Councillor Prater, I haven't received and emails or complaints from Councillors for the last few weeks about missed collections."

Now, I'll fully agree that I think the collection service has improved since May (it could hardly have got worse). However, there HAVE still been collection problems in Sandgate and West Folkestone, and I continue where there are issues to bring them to the attention of both the Cabinet member and officers, as he acknowledged.

Just saying...
