An Open Letter to Rory Love: Shepway Cabinet Member Responsible for Litter

NM
8 Oct 2012

Dear Rory,

Whist taking the air this afternoon along the Leas, my attention was drawn to spill of litter from full to bursting litter bins. Nearly every bin was crammed full of litter - perhaps our residents are now rightly fearful of getting an £80 fine for dropping to the ground of just one piece of litter.

Having full, overflowing bins however, detracts our visitors' eyes from the full glory of Folkestone and would be just another deterrent when they could consider a 'return' visit (parking fees etc).

Could I ask these bins are emptied on a regular basis please - and also, how will the 'Environment Enforcement Officers' calculate the fines Shepway Council will have to pay for causing such a mess?

Kind regards.
