Another Parking Triumph from Shepway District Council

Shepway District Council continue the process of putting in place the Sandgate CPZ, despite over 96% of respondents to the statutory consultation on the scheme being against.

Since Monday 21st there have been Parking Wardens all over the area, issuing "advisory" tickets in the area (they start booking people for real on Monday 28th apparently).

The net result is that Sandgate's Granville Parade and stretches of Castle Road are now deserted much of the time with parking bays most Sandgate residents are not allowed to park in for more than two hours, and the rest of Sandgate is impossible to park in. Slow handclap to Shepway District Council.

Even the design and painting of the parking areas themselves has been botched: when we were told by one resident of Castle Glen in Castle Road where Sandgate had positioned the parking bays near them, we didn't immediately believe it. But it is true - have a look:

Parking space directly in front of access to flats

Yes - that bay is directly in front of the vehicle access to a block of flats for elderly residents. It's the emergency services access, support access, car access - and Shepway have painted a parking bay directly across it. Take another slow handclap Shepway District Council. You're worth it.
