Anthony Dunning

16 May 2008

Folkestone East ward Councillor Anthony Dunning has resigned from the Liberal Democrats, and the Liberal Democrat group on Shepway District Council. Anthony's stated intention, laid out in a letter handed to the leader of the Lib Dem group following the Shepway Council AGM on 14 May, is to join the Conservatives.

Shepway Lib Dem Group Leader, Lynne Beaumont, said:

"This is sad news for us and for the people who voted for the Liberal Democrats in Folkestone East ward last year. I would however like to thank him for all his hard work, which has been greatly valued over the last year, and I wish him well for the future."
