At last - improvements to Folkestone West station!

At last we have a station that is fit for the people of Folkestone!

At long last, South Eastern Trains has carried out refurbishments at Folkestone West. Lib Dem councillor Tom McNeice began a campaign eighteen months ago, pressing for improvements to the station area, and especially to the subway under the railway lines.

As part of the campaign, Lib Dem activist Darren Briddock made a video that was posted on YouTube, and then picked up and broadcast by local television news. It showed the appalling state of the subway under the railway line, which was dank, mouldy and badly lit. Many people were reluctant to use the tunnel, especially at night.

In a recent letter to residents, Tom McNeice says: "That tunnel was an absolute disgrace, and we have been working hard to get it improved."

He reports that now "the tunnel is clean, bright and well-lit. South Eastern Trains have repainted the entire station, replaced windows, and, best of all, have installed safety lighting everywhere."

Councillor McNeice says: "At last we have a station that is fit for the people of Folkestone!"
