Lynne Beaumont: Shepway's £1m in uncollected parking fines is unacceptable

Liberal Democrat Shepway Group Leader Lynne Beaumont has challenged the Shepway Conservative cabinet member for Transport, Cllr Malcolm Dearden, to explain how Shepway plan to tackle the over £1million in uncollected parking fines issued by Shepway in the last 5 years.

Park ward Councillor Beaumont has put a question to the next Shepway Full Council meeting (Thursday 19th Feb) asking:

"Given the information that came to light last week, when requested under Freedom of Information, would the Cabinet member responsible for the Parking Strategy agree that over £1,000,000 has failed to be collected in parking fines over the last 5 years, and this is totally unacceptable?

"Can the Cabinet member please inform this council how he is going to rectify this situation?"
