Boring Plan Ends at Junction 13

The plan to display a Eurotunnel boring machine by junction 13 of the M20 has been rejected by Shepway Council after a planning meeting. Councillors decided the proposed siting of the machine to be too close to the roundabout at the junction and unsuitable for an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Jeff Stack from Shepway Council said: "After debating the issue long and hard on Tuesday evening it was decided that it was the wrong location and planning permission should be refused.

"I think being able to see it from the road is ok in principal... it's just that particular location where people felt right near a roundabout was just too dangerous.

"It was not just the issue of highway safety as it was also considered inappropriate for an area of outstanding beauty."
