26 Jan 2016

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has today published its final recommendations for future electoral arrangments in Kent County Council.

The Commission carried out the review to ensure "electoral equality for voters in local elections". The main aim being that each councillor represents roughly the same number of electors. Prior to the review, some councillors represented many more, or fewer, electors than others in the county.

The new divisions in Shepway are named:

  • Cheriton, Sandgate & Hythe East
  • Elham Valley
  • Folkestone East
  • Folkestone West
  • Hythe West
  • Romney Marsh
