Brightening Up Junction 12 of the M20

9 Jun 2017
J12 M20 Cheriton Interchange

A neighbour got in touch recently to mention that their are a number of streetlights that are out on the slip roads / roundabout at the Cheriton J12 M20 junction.

Essentially, the lights on the M20 and slip roads are the responsibility of Highways England, and those on the roundabout those of Kent Highways. I've contacted both, and have had the below response from Highways England today, saying they should be fixing at least some of the slip road lights on Monday. Progress I hope!

"I appreciate your concerns regarding the lack of lighting at this junction and the roundabout. I can confirm that Highways England maintains the road and lighting up to the end of the slip roads and that the main roundabout itself is maintained by Kent County Council.

"We are aware that there are a small number of lights out on the slip road and a crew will be in attendance on Monday 12 June to investigate this further with a view to repairing the defective lights in question.

"We've notified Kent County Council of the lighting within their area of responsibility, however if you'd like to follow this up yourself, please feel free to do so by visiting the Kent County Council website, http://www.kent.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/report-a-problem. "
