Kent Highway Services are due to carry out essential carriageway maintenance work on the roundabout at Castle Hill Avenue and Sandgate Road, Folkestone. This work involves the planing of the old surface and replacing with a new smoother, quieter surface. All road markings will be replaced and a new anti-skid surface applied to the roundabout approaches.

The work will be undertaken from 9th - 11th December 2009. This will commence after 7pm and be completed before 5am. Please be aware that noise levels are greatly increased during these hours, although all pneumatic break-out will be completed by midnight, audible warning sirens and equipment noise will continue after this time.

Due to the width of the carriageway and the size of equipment, it will be necessary to close this road to all vehicular traffic with a diversion route being in place for the duration of the works. There will be traffic management operatives allowing limited access when safe to do so. Unfortunately, due to traffic volumes and disruption, works have been restricted to being carried out during the evening hours. We will endeavour to complete these works as quickly as possible, whilst keeping disruption to a minimum. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the works, there will be an amount of inconvenience caused for which they apologise in advance

If you have any access problems, speak to the workforce on site of your requirements. Alternatively, if you have any concerns, please contact the Kent Highway Services 24 hr helpline on 08458 247 800 quoting project reference 09-TS-EAST-014.
