Carroll publishes Anti-Airport Expansion Ad
Liberal Democrat Campaigner Peter Carroll has published an advert in this weeks Herald newspaper on behalf of the Keep The Marsh Special Alliance (KMSA) against proposals to expand Lydd Airport.
The advert asks people to complete a form and return it to Shepway Council as a part of the consultation process on the planning applications to extend the airport runway to allow bigger planes and develop the airport terminal.
The advert says:
"I am fighting as part of Keep the Marsh Special Alliance to stop the expansion of Lydd Airport. The plans could lead to over 2 Million passengers using the airport - that's a jet flight every 20 to 30 minutes.
"At local level, this will mean many more jet flights over Folkestone, Hythe, Dymchurch and St Marys Bay. The unique environment of the Marsh will be devastated.
"The expansion will bring pollution, noise, traffic congestion. Aviation is the fastest growing source of the gases that add to global warming. If you share my aim of stopping this expansion I need your help! Please fill in the form."
You can download a copy of the form to print out, complete and return from this site.
KMSA is a grouping of the Green Party, Friends of the Earth, Shepway Liberal Democrats and Shepway residents.
