Congratulations to Cheriton Primary School who won the first ever Cheriton & Morehall Football "Councillors Cup" on Wednesday. St Martins Primary School were runners-up, and the hotly contested contest also had teams from all other primary schools in the Cheriton and Morehall area: All Souls, Harcourt and Morehall Schools.

The Councillors Cup was organised by Cheriton Councillor Dhan Gurung with help from Liz Timmins at Folkestone Town Council, and supported by ward grants from Folkestone Town Councillors. The Charlton FC football project helped with equipment and referees that made the event possible, and there was great support from the local Gurkha Nepalese community including refreshments from the Gurkha Palace Restaurant, and the event even promoted on British Forces Radio.

Councillor Dhan Gurung said:

"This has been a fantastic event and we had great weather. The children and spectators all had a good day, and we are sure this will now become an annual event, bringing together schools from across the area."

Councillor Tim Prater added:

"Dhan Gurung has done an excellent job getting the tournament together, and we should say a huge thank you to all the schools involved."
