A new "Pay As You Go" or monthly subscription cycling service click2cycle serving Folkestone, Sandgate and Hythe launches on 16th June.

To rent a bike, you need to download an app to your smartphone. You then set up an account, sign in, and find your nearest bike using the app. You then use the app to unlock your bike from the collection point at pick up, and again when you drop it back off. Pay As You Go rental cost £6 for the first hour, but a variety of price options are available.

click2cycle say:

"The Bikes have arrived and we have been busy preparing and testing them to make sure that the locks work in perfect tandem with the app so that hiring the Bikes will be easily achieved with a few clicks from your smartphone.
We are thrilled with the quality of our Bikes which are stylish and robust and the feedback from testing has been excellent. We are sure that you will enjoy your ride!

"You may have noticed some of our Bike Hire Stations have now been installed and the Bikes will be ready and in place for launching to the general public on Saturday 16th June. This is your first chance to come down and try the bikes and our Stations will be manned by a representative from click2cycle (between 10am and 2pm) who will be able to help you sign up to the app and get you on your way.

"Cycling is the perfect way to explore the stunning stretch of coastline that runs between Hythe and Folkestone and as we launch our scheme in National Bike Week; there has never been a better way to get out and explore the area on two wheels!"
