Middleburg Square cobbles: unfit for purpose

Local Lib Dem campaigner Gary Fuller has condemned the damaged cobbled area which it is believed is meant to discourage pedestrians from walking into the road at Middleburg Square as unfit for purpose.

The cobbled area which is adjacent to the underpass connecting Cheriton Gardens to the Saga building in the centre of Folkestone has become badly damaged and it is easy for pedestrians to walk across it and onto the busy square. Gary has reported the damage to the relevant authority, but fears that someone may be hurt before anything is done.

Commenting, Folkestone Town Councillor Fuller said:

"In its current state this cobbled area is unfit for purpose. If it isn't fixed soon I fear that there could be an accident and someone could get seriously hurt or killed.

"I can understand why people don't want to use the underpass given how badly kept it has been but I'd urge everyone to chose the safer route and not to walk out onto Middleburg Square!"
