Congratulations to Anuradha Koirala: CNN Heroes Award 2010

Anuradha Koirala, Chairperson of Maiti Nepal, has won the world prestigious CNN Heroes Award 2010 in Los Angeles. Anuradha became the first ever Nepalese women to win the award in recognition of her tireless contribution and fighting against a society free from trafficking of children and women around the world.

Anuradha Koirala visited Folkestone in 2010, and spoke about her work at an event attended by Folkestone Mayor Tom McNeice as his first official engagement on election. Tom commented on the award:

"On behalf of myself, Town Councillors and residents of Folkestone please pass on congratulations to Mrs Anuradha Koirala for her wonderful work in fighting for a society free from trafficking of children and women around the world. Your nation must be so proud!

"Both I and the Mayoress were pleased to meet with such an inspiring person who is an example to us all."
