Council Tax can go DOWN as well as up...
Lydd Town Councillor Ted Last has welcomed Lydd Town Council agreeing a cut in its community charge for 2017/18.
Following on from the December meeting of Lydd Town Council when a budget reduction of £27,000 for 2017/18 was agreed; Ted Last proposed at the January meeting that the precept be set at £177,980, a decrease on the current year of about 6.5%.
Ted Last commented:
"As chairperson of the Amenities Committee I was pleased the council undertook major refurbishment of both the Guild Hall and Manor Road Pavilion.
I"n the coming year there are other facilities to be provided for residents, young and old. It is also a year in which there has been an additional call upon our costs due to the provision of local authority pensions for our staff. We are going to achieve this even though we have been able to reduce the charge made to residents."
