County Award for Marie's Tireless Service to Sandgate
Sandgate Parish Council is very proud to announce that Marie Smith, who cleans the beach and promenade in Sandgate, has been awarded a Kent Association of Local Council (KALC) Community Award.
The success of being awarded Keep Britain Tidy's Seaside Award in 2013, 2014 and as announced yesterday 2015 too, is in part the result of the tireless work of Marie. Every summer season, she diligently keeps the beach and the walkway clean and tidy and is a great ambassador for the village. She is always smiling whatever the weather and has won the hearts of Sandgate residents with her dedication to her role.
The Chairman of Sandgate Parish Council, Robert Bliss, said:
"Her role and the way she carries out her duties are worthy of recognition and I am delighted that KALC has honoured her with this award."
The certificate and bouquet of flowers were presented to her by the Chairman at the Annual Parish Meeting held at Sandgate Library/Parish Council offices. The KALC awards are supported by The KALC Chairman, The High Sheriff of Kent, Chairman of Kent County Council and The Mayor of Medway.
