Dangerous Gates Success

22 Jan 2003

Local campaigners Tessa Caruana and Tina Rowley have initiated action to repair the gates on the footway across the railway at Tram Road/Dyke Road.

They had spotted that the gates on both sides of the track were damaged and were permanently hanging open.

Tessa Caruana said, "This was an open invitation to children to wander on the lines. We contacted Network Rail immediately and to their credit they responded very quickly."

Tina Rowley added, "It looked like these gates may have been vandalised. If that is the case, it is totally irresponsible of the culprits."

If you know of other problems with vandalism in your road, please contact Tessa or Tina.
