District Council Plan for Esplanade Parking charges?

After the introduction of parking charges last year on Princes Parade, local residents fear that Conservative Folkestone and Hythe District Council will push ahead with previous plans to introduce parking charges on Sandgate Esplanade.

Sandgate campaigner Tim Prater says:

"Summer parking charges on Princes Parade had a devastating effect last year.

"The parade was empty of cars most of the time, with parking displaced to other local roads. It's madness.

"But we keep hearing that the Conservative Council are still planning to introduce parking charges along the Esplanade, with Pay and Display machines along the front.

"Sandgate have successfully fought against parking charges on the Esplanade before. But the fear is the Conservatives will bring back yet another pay and display scheme here if they win the elections in May.

"I've stood up with the Parish Council against parking charges on the Esplanade, and will continue to do so."
