6 Jan 2009

British Energy have announced a series of public meetings to explain their plans to nominate land next to the existing Dungeness B Nuclear Power Station for a new nuclear power station. The meetings are open to the public, and British Energy say they are to "hear about our plans and raise any issue you feel British Energy needs to consider."

There will also be an opportunity to meet representatives from Royal Haskoning, a specialist engineering and environmental consultancy who have been engaged by British Energy to carry out impact assessments on any new build project.

The six meetings are at:

  • Tuesday 13 January: Assembly Rooms, New Romney - start 7pm
  • Wednesday 14 January: College of the Arts & Enterprise, Rye - start 6.30pm
  • Tuesday 20 January: RSPB Visitors Centre, Dungeness Nature Reserve - start 2pm
  • Wednesday 21 January: Village Hall, Dymchurch - start 6.30pm
  • Wednesday 28 January: Methodist Church Hall, Hythe - start 6.30pm
  • Thursday 29 January: War Memorial Institute Club, Lydd - start 2.30pm

You can register your intention with British Energy to attend any of the public meetings by phone to 0800 975 5852 by email to mail@dungenessnewbuild.co.uk or on-line at www.british-energy.com/newbuild
