The Central Toilets in Dymchurch are to be kept open thanks to the new plan

Dymchurch and St Mary's Bay Councillors Terry Preston, Julie White and Shirley Maile have welcomed the news that public conveniences will stay open in their area.

Cllr Terry Preston said, "Dymchurch and St Mary's Bay are visited by many thousands of tourists every year. The livelihoods of many are dependent on this trade and closing toilets could have affected this. Ever since the possible closure of public conveniences was announced, local Councillors have been working with the Lib Dem Council to maintain toilet provision in Dymchurch and St Mary's Bay."

The new rescue plan means that the Central Toilets in Dymchurch and the toilets in St Mary's Bay will stay open to at least October. Councillors are still working to find a way of keeping the Seawall toilets in Dymchurch open.

Cllr Julie White said, "We are hoping to work with all local interested parties to find a long term solution to keep our toilets open and I am confident we can achieve this. Many people are angry that the Labour Government forced us into this situation in the first place."
