The annual canvass is a review of the Electoral Register, in preparation for the yearly revision which is published on 1st December each year. Here, Folkestone and Hythe Disitrct Council are responsible for compiling and keeping the register up to date.

[Update 9/4/24: A message from the Elections Manager at F&HDC says "Further to my email of the 16 August, the canvass timetable has been revised.  This is due to an electoral management system supplier issue that is out of my immediate control, that I have been trying to rectify with them for a while.  Unfortunately a fix will not be available until 25 September at the earliest." We have revised the dates below accordingly.]

This year’s canvass has started slightly later because the General Election, however the same process and rules that have been in place since 2020, still apply.

This DOES mean that there will be emails from the District Council to local residents for whom they hold email addresses, asking for a confirmation of details, in the next few days. This is as per the last few years, entirely in line with good practice, and if the email asks you to visit www.folkestone-hythe.gov.uk/respond the emails are "legit".

If you’d like to know more about how the canvass is carried out, you can find this information on the F&HDC website.
