The damaged base of a streetlight in Sandgate Road Folkestone, close to the barriers blocking car access, has been repaired having been reported by local Lib Dem campaigner Gary Fuller. The streetlight had a number of exposed wires and some potentially sharp edges that could be reached by a young child.

The Folkestone Town Councillor reported the damaged light to Kent Highways over the weekend and it was fixed by Monday morning, but is concerned that this may not be the only potentially dangerous streetlight in Central Folkestone.

Father of two Gary said:

"I'm pleased this streetlight was sorted before someone got hurt. I've noticed a couple of streetlights cut off at the base over the past few days, some with tape removed from their tops, but this sort of thing could be far more dangerous."

If you spot damaged or dangerous streetlights in Central Folkestone, contact Gary on 07776 145084.
