Lynne Beaumont has welcomed the news that the Folkestone Leas Lift is to be renovated and re-opened this summer. Lynne was present at the official ceremony this morning to hand the keys to the contractors who will be renovating and repairing the lift prior to a hoped for re-opening in June.

Lynne Beaumont, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Folkestone and Hythe and the Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Shepway District Council, said:

"This is fantastic news for the town, for tourism, and for the local people who have not been able to access the lower part of the town since the 30th June last year, when Shepway District Council did not renew the lease of the lift.

"Well done to Lord Radnor, for putting the needs of local people, over and above the legal battle with Shepway District Council."
