Flooding Problems Continue In Elham Valley

19 Jan 2003

The recent heavy rains have caused flooding along the course of the Nailbourne.

Local Councillor Carol Crees commented, "Yet again, local residents have been flooded with sewage. The situation was exacerabated by a Southern Water pumping station at Ottinge being out of action."

She continued, "Southern Water have reacted very poorly to the pleas for help from residents. When your home is flooded with sewage people expect a response quicker than the 9 hours suffered by local residents!"

Carol is pressing for Southern Water to change the way that they deal with these very serious matters. She is also calling for greater maintenance and flushing out of the sewers.

Carol added, "Local residents can be assured that I will keep the pressure up on this issue."
