Lib Dem Lynne Beaumont launched her General Election campaign for Folkestone and Hythe today by welcoming a "Flying Start" banner hailing the Lib Dem delivery of an £825 tax cut for millions of working families.

Monday was the first day of the new tax year, when the personal tax allowance has been raised by ANOTHER £600 to £10,600 - the highest in history. This means that you pay no income tax on the first £10,600 of any income - a saving of £825 a year per income tax payer since 2010.

Lynne Beaumont said:

"It was great to see the banner today making the point that this was a Lib Dem tax cut, straight from the Lib Dem manifesto and delivered to over 25 million taxpayers by the Lib Dems in Government. Over 40,000 workers in Shepway have seen their tax cut, with many being taken out of tax altogether.

"The Lib Dems have worked in Government to balance the books, strengthen the economy, and build a fairer society. Delivering fairer taxes - lower taxes - to working families has been a big part of that. Lib Dems in Government: delivering."
