Folkestone and Hythe District Council Business Owners Update for Lockdown Two

National Lockdown COVID Business Grants

Yesterday all local authorities met with BEIS and heard about the funding available for business support grants during the current period of national lockdown. There are two schemes which apply to the Follkestone & Hythe District and I have summarised these below:

  1. Local Restrictions Support Grants (Closed) Addendum - funding is to be made available to businesses required to legally close during lockdown. However, at this stage further clarifications, including about which businesses are eligible, is still awaited and expected early next week. Once we are able, we will provide further details on the www.folkestone-hythe.gov.uk and www.folkestone.works websites. The government guidance so far on this scheme can be accessed via https://bit.ly/3mY76UO
  2. Additional Restrictions Support Grant - funding is to be provided to each local authority for their own discretionary grant scheme. A business grant scheme for the Folkestone & Hythe district is now being developed and I hope to provide further details about this as soon as possible. The government guidance so far on this scheme can be accessed via https://bit.ly/368669B

Purple Pages: for businesses offering door-to-door deliveries, takeaway or collection of food

With the reintroduction of restrictions from central government, we are doing as much as we can to encourage people to continue to shop local in these unusual times. Part of that work includes the relaunch of our Purple Pages service which lists businesses that are offering door-to-door deliveries, takeaway or collection of food in Folkestone, Hythe, Romney Marsh and surrounding areas. The variety of businesses we include may be added to in the future depending on take-up.

For more information about how to be included, visit https://www.folkestone-hythe.gov.uk/supportlocal/purplepages. If you registered during the first lockdown and your circumstances/contact details have changed, please email purple.pages@folkestone-hythe.gov.uk with your revised information.
