Folkestone and Lower Leas Park CCTV system
I'm regularly (OK - occasionally) asked if the CCTV in the Lower Leas Cosatal Park and elsewhere in Folkestone actually works.
Answer: yes.
There are 6 cameras in the park (Lower Sandgate Road), they are part of the Folkestone Town Council CCTV system, and they are fully functional. 25 are live monitored, and the remainder are recording only.
Access to footage is generally via Police request (http://folkestone-tc.gov.uk/_UserFiles/Files/Council/Policies%20Procedures/CCTV%20Policy.pdf). If you see / are affected by an offence, report it to the Police, and they can ask to see the recorded footage they think may be useful to their investigation.
Details of the existing 36 cameras across the town (all fully functional) and 20 new cameras proposed (including cameras covering the new beach huts on the seafront - yay!) are on the agenda / reports for the Folkestone Town Council Finance Committee Meeting this Thursday and can be seen at http://folkestone-tc.gov.uk/_UserFiles/Files/_Agendas/92097-A171220.pdf
