Folkestone Leas Lift Winter 2010 Opening Hours

2 Nov 2010

The historic Folkestone Leas lift will be running a winter service commencing on Thursday 4th November 2010. The lift will continue to run every week weather permitting, following its successful re-opening this year by a community interest company.

The Winter 2010 Leas Lift Timetable is:

  • Thursdays : First Journey - 10am. Last Journey - 3.35pm.
  • Fridays : First Journey - 10am. Last Journey - 3.35pm.
  • Saturdays : First Journey - 10am. Last Journey - 4.35pm.
  • Sundays : First Journey - 10am. Last Journey - 4.35pm.

Folkestone West Lib Dem County Councillor Tim Prater commented:

"It's great to see the success of the Leas Lift since it was re-opened, and I hope people will take advantage of this service during the winter as well. The number of people using the lift has been fantastic. It shows how wrong the decision by Shepway Council to close the lift last year really was - it should have been kept running and transferred to a new operator without threatening its future with such a long close down.

"Local people and visitors enjoy and value the Leas Lift - one of very few water balance lifts still running in the Country. It's good to know it'll operate during the winter this year as well."
