Folkestone's East ward goes to the polls

21 Apr 2004

Voters in the East ward of Folkestone will be going to the polls tomorrow to elect a new District Councillor to serve alongside Cllr Janet Andrews.

Well known local campaigner Emily Sanger is contesting the seat for the Lib Dems.

Emily said "It's been a hard fought campaign. My team and I have had a really warm reception from local people on the doorstep, and I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to talk to us.

"I know how angry local people are at the way our area has been neglected in the past by a Conservative Council and our Conservative MP. Now our local Post Office is under threat and our area looks set to lose a vital service.

"As your Councillor I will fight as hard as I can to clean up our area and speak up for local people."

Polling Stations will be open from 8am till 9pm at Wood Avenue Library and the Baptist Church Hall on Hill Road.
