Decorated Christmas Tree

Shepway District Council are offering to recycle your real Christmas tree for free from 9 January to 3 February 2017.

If you have a real Christmas tree and you want to recycle it for free complete the form on the Shepway Council website.

Alternatively, if you are signed up for Shepway's £45 per year garden waste scheme just put your tree next to your brown lid bin on your normal garden waste collection day (remember there will be no garden waste collections from Monday 26 December 2016 to Friday 6 January 2017).

Shepway Lib Dem Campaigner Tim Prater commented:

"Credit where it's due: free real Christmas Tree recycling is a welcome service, and it's good Shepway Council are providing it.

"You do have to ask though why the collections don't start before the 9th January, some time after 12th Night. Most families will have taken their tree down well before the 9th, and many with have issues storing it until collection."
