Gurkha Peace Foundation Chairman Brian Staley says:

"On our recent trip to Nepal we identified several projects which we are striving to support. The most vulnerable and needy are those for handicapped children. Alongside the one and only Blind School and one which employs deaf teenagers we also met two unfortunate children who are compelled to write with their foot and mouth. One girl with no arms at all walked for two whole days just to meet us. My thoughts were that if she can do that I will try to walk thirteen miles to sponsor her in the Gurkha Walk at Eastwell Park, Ashford on Sunday June 15th.

"You may know that the Gurkha Peace Foundation was started at the annual Canterbury Sheriff's Dinner. The objective is to integrate our two communities here in the U.K. and to support worthy projects in Nepal. We are grateful for all the support that we receive from all political parties particularly in Canterbury. We are proud to state that already we have helped pensioners and handicapped children here in the U.K. and have established two day centres for the elderly."
