Shepway's Liberal Democrat Euro-MPs have both been given prestigious awards in recognition of the effective work they do.

Emma Nicholson was voted 'MEP of the year' by more than 20,000 people across 72 countries. This award was in recognition of her international human rights work and for highlighting the plight of Afghan and Iraqi refugees.

A leading group of small companies made Chris Huhne their 'MEP of the year' for his work on 'financial services in general and on the Prospectus Directive in particular'. Chris's changes will help small businesses raise cheaper finance. As the Financial Times said: 'The City owes Chris Huhne a debt of gratitude'.

"Our approach has been to work hard and get things done," commented Chris Huhne. "We hope local residents will judge us on our record, not on party rhetoric, and on that basis we are confident we will do well on 10th June."
