Horn Street Closure: How Much Longer?
Horn Street, the road running between the A259 Seabrook Road junction and Cheriton High Street in Folkestone, remains closed over SEVEN months since it was first shut.
The road which is also a bus route, was first closed in January this year for water mains works, and despite saying that the works would be complete in 4 months, the road is still shut.
Cheriton Councillor Tim Prater is amazed the works have gone on so long. He said:
"Horn Street is an important local road, and its closure for so long has caused real difficulties locally, and even closed St Martins School for a day when the works blocked access to the School.
"With these works originally due to end around April, for the works still to be ongoing well into September is infuriating - and there appears to be no end in sight."
The roadworks no longer even appear on Kent Councils own roadworks and traffic site at http://www.kent.gov.uk/transport-and-streets/kent-traffic-and-travel/
Tim Prater has written to Kent County Council as the Highways Authority to ask when they now expect works to be completed.
