It's Just a Pawfect Day...

Folkestone & Hythe District Council will be trialling a range of ways to help dog walkers find the paw-fect spot this summer.

Although seasonal dog beach restrictions are in place from 1 May, there is still an abundance of coastline and countryside that can be enjoyed by dogs and their owners during the summer months.

Banners, posters, and stencils will be used, with particular attention being paid to areas that have caused confusion in the past.

These new methods are part of the council’s ongoing ‘Dog’s Guide to the District’ campaign. This focuses on promoting good dog etiquette in the district by encouraging owners to protect themselves, their dogs, and the community by picking up after and controlling their dogs when walking them in public spaces.

The popular Paws for Thought events will be making a comeback. The events will take place throughout the summer across the district, and F&HDC will continue to work with the RSPCA to offer a limited amount of free microchipping as well as advice and support to pet owners.

A council spokesperson said:

“The new methods being trialled are based on feedback received from residents following last year’s campaign and we hope they will make the restrictions clearer for both visitors and residents.

“The guide aims to promote good dog behaviours in the district so that everyone feels welcome.”
