It’s not over, but: WE CAN NOW SAVE PRINCES PARADE

Princes Parade

It’s back in the balance. Princes Parade development CAN now be stopped.

Further cost increases saw the scheme referred back to Folkestone and Hythe District Council Cabinet in December. Long term opponents of Princes Parade development Tim Prater and Lesley Whybrow moved to end the scheme immediately and stop wasting more money.

They were blocked by the ruling Conservatives and Independents, who voted instead to waste ANOTHER £250k to keep the planning permission alive and then put the scheme “on ice” in case finances improved.

Lib Dem Tim Prater said:

"I have spoken time after time on the huge risk and cost of Princes Parade development.

"The Council leadership wouldn’t listen. The leadership were wrong.

“It’s madness they’ve voted to spend even more to keep alive planning permission they now can’t afford to use. It’s a desperate last dice roll.

"We have elections in May. The newly elected Councillors will now have the choice. Continue with hugely expensive and risky Princes Parade scheme, or ditch it. The Conservatives & Independents remain committed to Princes Parade development. Every vote for them will be used to continue this awful scheme.

“To stop it, vote for those who have opposed Princes Parade development throughout. We can now stop this.

"There will be a price. This huge folly will have to be written off, with costs to date sunk. That will hurt. But it’s the right thing to do."
