Join me now on the Campaign trail in Oldham

In May, I faced one of the dirtiest Labour campaigns in political history. A Labour campaign that has now been found guilty of 'illegal practices' by two High Court judges.

I couldn't stand by and let them get away with that kind of politics. It's not right for Oldham and Saddleworth and it's not right for British politics. Labour badly letdown the people of Oldham and Saddleworth with their campaign in May. They knew they couldn't win so they resorted to illegal tactics to steal victory.

It's over a week now since Phil Woolas was thrown out of Parliament by two High Court judges. This decision was a victory for fair play and clean politics. But it is only a partial victory. There will shortly be a by-election. Everyone expects it before Christmas.

Labour are hoping that they win the by-election. They are hoping that they can get away with the type of negative campaign they ran in May. I'm fighting to stop this. I have fought them in Court and now I need your help to fight them on the campaign trail in Oldham and Saddleworth.

Since last week I've been really overwhelmed by the support I have received from Liberal Democrat members. Our campaign is really up and running. In the last week we have delivered a tabloid newspaper across the constituency and opened our new campaign headquarters.

Many people have told me that they will come and help once they know the date of the by-election. That is extremely kind and myself and the team are very grateful. This is a specific appeal though for help NOW. There is already plenty to do from delivering leaflets, knocking on doors and stuffing envelopes.

It's not just me that needs your help. It's British politics. With your help now we can stop Labour getting away with their disgraceful campaign.

If you are planning to come to Oldham please come as soon as possible - you'll get a great welcome from our local team. The details are here: www.elwynwatkins.co.uk/help-us-win/ With your help we can clean up British politics.
