Kent Highways on Update on Emergency Road Closure - Sandgate Road, Folkestone

15 Jul 2011

The closure of Sandgate Road, Folkestone remains necessary for emergency repairs. It has now been established that the faults have been caused by leaking water joints.

Southern Water are working extended hours and Saturdays to complete these works as soon as possible.

It remains unknown how long the road will be closed at present, but if the closure is likely to be needed beyond 25 July, a further Traffic Notice will be issued.

The section of Sandgate Road to be closed is between the junctions with Castle Hill Avenue and Christ Church Road. The alternative route is via Castle Hill Avenue, Bouverie Road West and Manor Road. Christ Church Road can be reached via Manor Road and Sandgate Road.

Manor Road will cease to be one-way whilst Sandgate Road is closed, to allow it to be used as the diversion.
