Kent Police update July 2012 - Cheriton and Morehall
On Friday 6th Jul 2012 PCSO Mark Ball and PCSO Gary Carr stopped and spoke with a group of 8 young females who were drinking alcohol in Cheriton Park. All alcohol was seized and immediately disposed off. A letter of note has been sent to the parents of each group member.
On Saturday 15th July 2012 local officers Karen Tappenden, Gary Carr and Mark Ball attended Harcourt Summer Fete. Visitors were able discuss their concerns regarding local issues as well as having their personal belongings security marked.
Local Officers were on duty during the Olympic Torch relay providing a high visibility presence and extra security through out the stretch of Sandgate High Street.
On Tuesday 24th July 2012 PCSO Mark Ball and PCSO Gary Carr attended Cheriton Park on a routine high visibility foot patrol. Two local males were stopped who had brought their motor bikes into the park. The pair were given appropriate words of warning/advice and instructed to remove the bikes from the park.
PCSO Mark Ball and PCSO Gary Carr attended Londis Store in Dover Road, Folkestone, in relation to a report of Theft/Shoplifting. From viewing the stores CCTV the officers were able to positively identify the offender who was subsequently arrested.
During high visibility bike patrol in the Cheriton area, PCSO Ball attended Ashley Avenue and assisted Traffic Police in the stop of a vehicle whose occupants were in the possession of an illegal substance. One male was fined and appropriate words of warning were provided.
Whilst on bike patrol PCSO Karen Tappenden and PCSO Mark Ball stopped and spoke with 2 males who were drinking alcohol in Somerset Road. The pair were given suitable words of warning/advice with any open bottles of alcohol disposed of.
On Wednesday 1st August 2012 PCSO Mark Ball attended a report of a vehicle obstruction to a residential driveway. The owner of the vehicle, who was the manager of a local works garage apologised and agreed not to park any of his vehicles in this section of the road again in order to avoid any further upset
High Visibility Patrols:
Although current crime statistics for both Morehall and Cheriton are low, Criminal Damage is still an on going issue. The majority of this damage is the subject of people under the influence of drink and/or drugs, especially surrounding groups between the ages of 14 - 17 yrs old. As a result targeted patrols are being conducted in:
- Cheriton Park
- Chilham Road
- Stanley Road
- Cheriton High Street
