Kent Police Update July 2013 - Sandgate, Cheriton and Morehall

PCSO's Laura Zazo and Mark Ball attended Stockholm Court in Cheriton and spoke with residents regarding their concerns. A talk/discussion was presented outlining Officer duties and their current police powers.

Whilst attending Maplins Electronics Ltd in relation to a report of Theft/Shoplifting, PCSO Mark Ball also viewed the stores CCTV footage regarding a previous incident. The male suspect was instantly recognised and was subsequently arrested.

Whilst conducting a routine patrol of Spring Lane, PCSO Laura Zazo and Mark Ball stopped and spoke with a group of young persons who were found in a parked vehicle opposite the cemetery. One of the male occupants was instantly recognised and it was confirmed that he had broken his Bail conditions. This resulted in his arrest later that same evening.

Local Officers Karen Tappenden, Laura Zazo and Mark Ball joined a task force of police and partner agencies in the Tontine Street area, where house to house community engagements were made in order to gain valuable feedback on public opinion regarding local criminality.

On Monday 15th July PCSO Mark Ball attended Cheriton Baptist Church and presentation a discussion on 'Handling Conflict' on behalf of the Urban Pastors team.

PCSO's Mark Ball and Laura Zazo attended the home address of two men suspected of assault. They were directed to attend Folkestone police station the same day in order to be cautioned and questioned. Both males complied with this and were subsequently arrested as a result of their previous conduct.

On Tuesday 23rd July PCSO's Laura Zazo and Mark Ball attended Folkestone town centre in relation to a report of possible assault. After investigating the allegation further Officers found the claim to be unfounded and provided both parties suitable words of warning/advice regarding their conduct.

PCSO Laura Zazo and PCSO Mark Ball attended Maplins Electronics in Park Farm Industrial Estate to a report of Theft/Shoplifting. From viewing the stores CCTV footage of the incident Officers were successful in identifying the male suspect as they had dealt with him on previous occasions. The offender was subsequently arrested.

On Monday 29th July Officers Mark Ball and Laura Zazo reattended Maplins Electronics in relation to a further report of Theft/Shoplifting. Officers were able to identify the male and female offenders by running a trace on their vehicle which was picked up on Maplins external CCTV. This investigation is currently on going.

Over the past month PCSO's Laura Zazo, Karen Tappenden, and Mark Ball have been paying particular attention to:

  • Cheriton Recreation Ground
  • Morehall Recreation Ground
  • Sandgate Beach
  • Saga Enbrook Valley
  • Tesco store
  • Alleyways between Ashley Avenue and Somerset Road

Local officers will continue to liaise with partner agencies, local Neighbourhood Watch coordinators, shop managers and their respective teams in order to make Sandgate and Cheriton a safer place to work, live and visit.
