Kent Police update May 2012 - Cheriton & Morehall
On 7th March 2012 Officers Sarah Wallace and Mark Ball attended an address in Radnor Park Crescent in relation to report of a Burglary in progress. Upon arriving on scene the suspect had made off from the area. Whilst conducting enquiries the offender was spotted, and stopped by the officers.
PCSO's Mark Ball and Sarah Wallace attended a report of criminal damage. From conducting appropriate level of enquiries the officers were able to identify a group of 4 young persons as well as the name of the main offender.
Whilst on routine patrol in Folkestone PCSO Mark Ball and SC Rob Creron were stopped by a member of public regarding a RTC (Road Traffic Collision) in Cheriton High Street. They promptly attended and took control of the scene, ensuring all involved parties were safe and treated appropriately.
On 12th March 2012 PCSO Mark Ball attended Tesco Store in Cheriton High Street, in relation to a report of Theft/Shoplifting. Stolen items were retrieved and the suspect's identity was quickly established as he is a known offender.
Whilst attending Tesco store in Cheriton High Street, in relation to a report of Fraud, PCSO Mark Ball was approached by the management team regarding a Bomb threat. The call had been made just as Officer Ball had entered the store, and as such was able to liaise directly with management and the appropriate Police unit. Both the officer and the store team worked together in order to minimise any threat. Plain clothed officers attended and took control of the scene, later declaring it a hoax call. Further investigation resulted in a successful arrest of a known male offender.
On Friday 23rd March 2012 local PCSO's Gary Carr and Mark Ball attended Cheriton High Street in relation to a report of Anti-social behaviour. The group were quickly identified and escorted from the area.
PCSO's Gary Carr and Mark Ball attended a report of a group of 30 young persons drinking and taking drugs in the park area of Fremantle Road, Sandgate, on Saturday 24th March at 22:30 hrs. The group were dispersed in smaller groups and warned not to return to the area or risk being arrested. Bottles of alcohol were seized and disposed of.
Two local young persons who committed Theft whilst travelling on a Southeastern Rail train have been identified by PCSO Mark Ball. Officer Ball was able to view CCTV footage which shows the pair leaving Folkestone West train station. All information has been past onto British Transport Police for further investigation.
Whilst tasked to patrol the Hawkinge area, PCSO's Gary Carr and Mark Ball were assigned to locate a young person who had walked out of William Harvey Hospital suffering from mental ill health. Despite the large area, the individual was quickly found, and confirmed to be safe and with an appropriate adult.
Cheriton officers Karen Tappenden and Mark Ball attended The Coop in Cheriton High Street, regarding a report of Theft/shoplifting. Upon attending the male suspect had fled the scene but from viewing the stores CCTV footage the officers were able to make a positive identification of the suspect.
On Saturday 31st March Cheriton officers Karen Tappenden and Mark Ball responded to a call in Hythe regarding the welfare of an elderly resident. The caller had become concerned when the elderly resident hadn't been seen for over 3 days nor was she answering the phone or knocks at her home address. Upon arriving at the property the officers took steps to enter the property which was locked, and subsequently found the elderly lady on the floor of her living room. The elderly resident was checked by a paramedic team who confirmed that she was safe and well. Family members were informed, who agreed to visit their relative asap in order to provide reassurance.
On Thursday 12th April 2012 PCSO Mark Ball was approached by a member of public in relation to being assaulted. Upon escorting the lady home Officer Ball spotted the persons responsible, who ran off. One of the pair was stopped and held to account. Following a series of reports, Police were able to identify, locate and arrest the second suspect.
Whilst on routine patrol in Cheriton Road, the shop assistant from Morehall stores informed PCSO Mark Ball that a teenage female had just stolen from the store. Although the suspect ran off when challenged, all items were retrieved and returned to the shop. From viewing the stores CCTV the female's identification was confirmed and she was subsequently arrested.
While reviewing CCTV footage at the One Stop in Cheriton Road, PCSO Mark Ball found footage showing a group of young persons stealing from the store. From dealing with one member of the group previously he was able to identify these persons, and seized the appropriate CCTV footage as evidence. A member of the group was arrested as a result.
On Tuesday 24th April 2012 PCSO's Mark Ball and Gary Carr stopped 2 persons in the alleyway between St Martins Road and Tolsford Close, who were in the process of conducting a drug deal. The suspected dealer ran off from officers but was found shortly after and searched for drug paraphernalia. Both persons are well known to local officers.
Security marking
Security-marked items are less likely to be stolen. Mark items like bikes, lawnmowers, laptops, mobile phones and media players - marking them also makes it easier for the police to return them to you if found.
