Kent Police update October 2011 - Cheriton and Morehall

Update for the month of October 2011, for the Cheriton & Morehall areas.

On Saturday 1st October 2011 local officers Karen Tappenden & Mark Ball attended the park area between Firs Lane and Shaftesbury Avenue in relation to a report of youths on top of residential garages. A group of young persons were stopped, whose details were recorded with parents being spoken to regarding their conduct/behaviour.

Whilst conducting a routine patrol of Cheriton Park, local officers Karen Tappenden & Mark Ball stopped a small group of youths were drinking alcohol. All cans were seized and disposed of, with the group being given words of warning and moved on from the area.

PCSO Mark Ball attended Shaftesbury Avenue in response to a call from residents who were complaining about youths causing criminal damage. The group in question were quickly found and identified. Their details were recorded and parents spoken to regarding their actions.

On Saturday 8th October 2011 PCSO Mark Ball attended Tesco Store, in Cheriton High Street, when he was alerted by store security regarding a stopped shoplifter. The female offender was quickly identified, and issued with a life time ban from all Tesco stores. All items were retrieved before escorting the offender from the premises.

PCSO Mark Ball attended Tesco Store in Cheriton High Street, in response to a report of banned persons trying to enter the premises. The 2 young persons were stopped outside the store, which Officer Ball was already aware of and advised that they now have a life time ban from all Tesco store as a result of their actions/conduct, and then escorted from the premises.

A police surgery was held at Cheriton Library by officers Debbie Bishop & Mark Ball, who met with local residents and discussed their concerns.
Whilst patrolling Cheriton Park, PCSO's Debbie Bishop & Mark Ball stopped and spoke with a group of young females who were in the possession of 2 crates of alcohol. The alcohol was seized and immediately disposed of. The group was subsequently escorted from the park area.

On the date commencing Friday 14th October 2011, a task force of Neighbourhood officers conducted high visibility foot patrols in the Cheriton area until 02:00 am on Sunday morning in order to tackle current levels of Anti-social behaviour in and around Cheriton High Street and the park areas. Several groups were spoken to, and given suitable advice.
