Larry Ngan: Three clear issues that we need to tackle now in Folkestone & Hythe
The Liberal Democrats have selected Larry Ngan to stand for Parliament in Folkestone and Hythe constituency at the next General Election.
Born and grew up in Hong Kong, Larry moved to the UK in 2006.
Larry is currently working as a senior data analyst for a rating agency, and has also taken key roles in the Liberal Democrats nationally. He was elected as a member in the Federal International Relations Committee in 2023, and is also the Chair of Liberal Democrats Friends of Hong Kong, an organisation campaigning on Hong Kong and China Affairs.
Larry Ngan said:
“I'm excited to be named by Folkestone and Hythe Liberal Democrats as their candidate for Folkestone and Hythe in the forthcoming General Election.
“I'm standing because I believe the Liberal Democrats are the only party genuinely offering a Fair Deal for our country.
"There are so many areas where we have taken the wrong path: I could talk about them all day.
"But in Folkestone and Hythe, I think there are three clear issues that we need to tackle, now.
“We have a cost of living crisis in this country. It is worse here than in most other countries. Our Government is to blame for that.
"Everyone has been hit, but those with the least have, as ever, been hit most. Food prices: up. Energy costs: up. Rent: up.
“Everyone in Folkestone and Hythe knows we don't have enough GPs and medical centres. I'm told getting through to a GP surgery for an appointment feels like a lottery. There are just not enough GPs to go around.
“And Folkestone and Hythe is rightly famous for its beautiful beaches and coastline.
"From the Warren, down the coast though Sandgate, and around Hythe Bay to the St Mary's Bay, Dymchurch and Greatstone, there are incredible beaches with vastly different characters.
"But how can those beaches survive and thrive if the water companies keep pumping sewage into our sea?
"Our community deserve better than this.
"I look forward to working with communities, people, business and councillors across our constituency. I'll campaign for reducing the burden of the cost of living crisis, investing in our communities, hospitals and GPs, and a seaside free from sewage."
