LEAP Folkestone

Leap Folkestone, organised by Shepway District Council, is part of the Leap Years programme of events co-ordinated by EKLAAP (East Kent Local Authority Arts Partnership) is a FREE Parkour performance in Folkestone by local students this Saturday. Parkour (free-running) is the discipline of overcoming obstacles with efficient and fluid movement.

The students' performances are the culmination of weekly workshops held this term. The project also included a teacher training session and a schools demonstration performance in the summer, sponsored by Shepway Find Your Talent.

The event will take park on Saturday 17 October 2009 in Folkestone Town Centre outside Debenhams. In the event of wet weather, the venue will be Quarterhouse, Tontine Street. The programme is:

  • 11am & 1pm: Performances by internationally acclaimed Urban Playground
  • 11.20am & 1.20pm: Performances by students from the Folkestone Academy and Pent Valley Technology College
  • 11.45 - 12.30 & 1.45 - 2.30: Open workshops - open to anyone, aged 12 and upwards (the 2nd workshop will be cancelled if using the indoor venue option).
