Leas Lift in Appeal due to extended wheel repairs

The Leas Lift

The Folkestone Herald has reported that the future of Folkestone's historic Leas Lift has been plunged into question as the popular attraction may have to remain closed until next June.

The lift closed in October for its anticipated winter break when it was found it had to have new wheel rims built. The specially-made wheels have to travel from South Africa and will take 20 weeks to arrive - by which time the community interest company in charge of its wellbeing will have ran out of money.

Urgent action has already been taken, with its full time staff being laid off. Bills still have to be paid though and the CIC has appealed to the public for help.

Street collections will start soon and anyone who wants to help should pay cash to the Leas Lift CIC bank account at HSBC, sort code 40-21-15, account 01626183.
