Sandgate resident Season Prater will be the Liberal Democrat candidate in the Sandgate Valley by-election on 1st May. The by-election is to Sandgate Town Council following the resignation of Councillor Jenny Bailey.

With the Sandgate Conservatives under attack from local residents for the recent change from Parish to Town status, the Liberal Democrats are working to secure a good result in the by-election. Season says:

"The recent move from 'Parish' to 'Town' was just wrong. Sandgate is a Village. It seems the only change is we now have a Mayor - why?

"I would stand up against any new expenditure on the Mayor, civic regalia or functions.

"I also believe Sandgate having the highest Council Tax in Shepway is a disgrace. Sandgate residents now face the highest Council Tax in Shepway - the most expensive of ANY of the 30 Towns and Parishes that make up our area.

"I would fight for better value for tax payers and pledge keep in touch with local residents throughout the year."
