Lib Dem Councillor's resignation "No Surprise"

8 Mar 2004

The resignation of District Councillor Tony Baker from the Liberal Democrats has come as "no surprise" to the rest of the Lib Dem group.

Leader of the Lib Dems on Shepway Council, Linda Cufley, said "Tony has made it clear in the last few months that he has been unhappy with some of the moves the new Council has made.

"This area has been run into the ground by the last Conservative Administration and re-building it requires a massive team effort. Tony has found it difficult being a member of that team. We note that Tony actually voted for the Council Tax increase. We will continue with our prime aim of re-building Shepway'.
